This is basically a random round up of my recent gaming and stuff for anyone who cares. Might do more like this, unsure yet.
For various reasons I haven't really gamed a huge amount recently, however I've never wrote one of these before so I've got plenty of past things to write about. The first game that springs to mind is Lost: via Domus. That was an easy 1000 points for my xbox live account, although I'd be hard pushed to say I had 'fun' at any point in the game. It very vaguely covered season 1 of Lost (but not really, there's huge gaps in the whole story) but that seemed to be all it was, a summary. It was interactive in the same way a Powerpoint slideshow is interactive, sure you get to do a little bit of stuff, and it's reliant on you to move things along, but at the end of the day you're just doing very simple things so you can see/read some stuff, and then do some more simple things. Took me 4 hours to complete, although I was fairlyfocused on just finishing, I guess you could add maybe another hour or two if you went through all of the different dialogues, but even if you're a Lost fanatic it's hard to enjoy that when they didn't feel the need to use any of the original voicecasting >.>
Prince of Persia is probably my game of the moment, It was definitely t3h prettehfulz (aka. it looks nice) when you are running around. Things are initially a bit bleak, but everytime you vanquish an area of enemies you can heal the land which spreads attractive looking plants all over, and clears up any black gungey mess. Obviously it wouldn't really matter what you were running around in if it wasn't fun, but the gameplay is just as enjoyable. If you've played platforming games before it shouldn't pose any problems to you, but just navigating the various gaps and obstacles is rewarding and even if you do slip up, your good friend Elika is here to save the day! Definite improvement on the painfully frustraing game over screens from Warrior Within on ps2. Add in some witty dialogue and some very doable achievements, and I can't find too much to complain about. Some people say it'srepetitive, and I guess that's fair considering you fight the same 4 bosses numerous times, but what game isn't repetitive?
Other retail games I played of late are Turok and Dark Sector, neither of which either entertained me nor annoyed me enough to inspire much babble from me. Side note however, do not expect to get the multiplayer achievements for these games, they aren't quite dead, but, when I've looked there has not been many people getting their multiplayer on.
Surprisingly most of my time has been taken up by an arcade game, Trials HD to be specific. Little on the pricey side, the upper end of what I'm prepared to pay for something like this, but I'm satisfied. It's visually awesome, and although you can only move along a 2d plane, the levels themselves are 3d, and I love the general style. The main gameplay does get repetitive, and the later levels are ridiculously hard, but you also unlock several mini games. These are all skill based (except the breaking bones one which is more luck and fun to be had with ragdoll physics) but practice makes perfect. As more people play I'm slipping down the leaderoards, but I'm valiantly holding on in about 250th place in the world for the wheelie one (officially called Screw Loose I believe). Slight downer, no multiplayer so competition is strictly leaderboard battles, and although you can make and play other peoples levels, they have to be on your friends list, so unless you have some very busy and talented friends, it's not the neverending free levels I was hoping for :/
That'll wrap it up, long blah was long but, if I ever do do this again, there shouldn't be quite so much to talk about. If you legitimately read this far...why? :S
